Diving Committee and Dive Marshals

The diving section is run by a committee which reports to the PBC committee through the Powerboat member. The committee is elected during the Piasau Divers AGM in June. The current committee is as follows:

Each dive organised by the PBC needs to have a dive marshal who is responsible for organising the dive and managing the divers offshore. Dive marshals are appointed by the diving officer and need to meet the following requirements:

• Be a member of BSAC
  
  
• Minimum qualification of Dive Leader or equivalent (e.g. PADI Divemaster) with training in rescue management and oxygen administration
  
  
• Have attended a presentation covering conditions specific to Miri and made familiar with safety equipment available on the dive boat and local emergency response procedures
  
  
• Have proof of at least 50 logged dives and at least 10 dive trips with the PBC
  
  
• Acted as dive marshal under the supervision of an instructor or dive marshal for a minimum of 2 dive trips
  
  
• Demonstrate good diving behaviour and practice
